He opened the deed fully and read from the screen. “Title holder: Calder Ridge Holdings LLC. Recorded grant of life occupancy rights to Marcus Vail and Evelyn Vail, effective nine days ago.”

He looked at me.

“Are you the managing member?”

“Yes.”
