I had heard enough.

Actually, I had heard more than enough. My husband of just four months, the man I had trusted with everything, was planning to rob me blind. And he thought I was too stupid to see it coming.

Well, surprise, honey. Turns out stupid women do not build million-dollar businesses. Looking back, I should have seen the red flags from day one.

But when you are falling in love, you tend to ignore the small things that do not add up. Or, in my case, the not-so-small things. Because honestly, ladies, the signs were there.

I just chose to interpret them as romance instead of reconnaissance. I met Ryan at a networking event downtown. I was there representing my consulting firm, trying to land new clients, when this gorgeous guy in an expensive suit walked up to my booth.

Tall. Dark hair. Perfect smile.
