Iran says it does not trust US as Trump toughens terms

Iranian officials have disputed some of Trump’s statements and stressed that no agreement has been finalized. State media reported that both sides are still exchanging draft texts and proposed amendments, with the possibility that any future deal could ultimately be rejected.

Tehran has also demanded the release of approximately $12 billion in frozen assets before engaging in more substantial nuclear discussions. In addition, Iranian lawmakers are considering measures that would strengthen Iran’s control over navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
