Democrats are no longer in California’s 40th Congressional District. Rep. Young Kim advanced from the primary alongside Rep. Ken Calvert, resulting in a Republican-versus-Republican match-up in November.
The strategy was to force two Republican incumbents to run against each other in the same district, weakening them so that a Democrat could step in and win the seat
