Democrat Esther Kim-Varet came in third with roughly 16 percent. In California’s top-two primary system, finishing in third place is effectively the same as finishing last, meaning she is out of the race.

Before Proposition 50, Calvert held the 41st, and Kim held the 40th. Newsom’s grand scheme was supposed to result in handing his terrorist party another seat. But it wound up costing them one instead. Brilliant.
