Washington D.C. — Republicans won two special elections on Saturday. In Texas, former Montgomery County district attorney Brett Ligon won the state Senate seat left vacant by Brandon Creighton.

Ligon defeated Democrat Ron Angeletti. The two will face each other again in November for a full four-year term. Ligon will serve until the next legislative session begins in January.

Ligon said the voters of Senate District 4 delivered a clear message. He noted that conservative values and Republican dominance in Texas are alive and well. He said Democrats from Texas and across the country tried hard but failed.
