Republicans Pull Off Stunning Election Victory – Hakeem Jeffries Is Reeling After Hilary Holley Gets The Nod

Senate District 4 includes Chambers, Harris, Jefferson, and Montgomery counties. In 2024, the district voted for President Donald Trump by a 34-point margin. It is considered one of the reddest districts in the upper chamber.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said after Ligon’s win that the Senate GOP caucus is stronger than ever. He said when Texas Republicans are energized and united, they cannot be defeated.

In Florida, Republican Hilary Holley defeated Democrat Edwin Pérez in a special election for House District 51. Holley won with about 55 percent of the vote.

Holley will replace term-limited Republican Rep. Josie Tomkow in the Polk County-based district. District 51 includes Polk City, Davenport, Haines City, Lake Alfred, and Auburndale.

House Speaker-Designate Sam Garrison said Holley will be a tremendous addition to the Florida House. He said voters made the right decision in electing the far superior candidate.
